A grant is financial support given by a constituent (company or individual) for a particular purpose. Grants differ from traditional donations in that they usually require progress reporting back to the grantor and may require contracts delineating how the money can be used. For example, the Charitable Foundation provides a grant to the Association of Teachers for training programs.  The association signed a contract to use the funding only for the training programs and agrees to provide a 6 month and one year progress report on how the money was used and what the outcomes of the program were.
