# What if the constituent receiving soft credit does not exist yet?

If the constituent is not available in the drop down, you can add a new one by clicking on the “**Add Constituent** icon that is under the Soft Credit Yes/No toggle. Once you add the constituent information in the popup window, they will be available in the dropdown box under the Constituent column to select.
