There are several options for collecting a registrant's company name based on what you have selected in the Event Settings tab. Under the Financial Information section there are three selections for collecting company information.
- Do Not Allow Purchases on Behalf of a Company/Organization - When set to YES, this will restrict registrations to individuals only. You will have the option to still collect the constituent's company name, but the transaction is recorded for the individual.
- Default Purchases to on Behalf of a Company/Organization - When set to YES, there is a box checked above the registration information that says this "This event purchase is being made on behalf of a company/organization." A registrant can uncheck the box and enter the transaction for an individual if desired.
- Collect Event Registrant's Company Name - when set to YES, additional fields will appear below the registrant's name and address to enter their company name.
Below are examples of the different outcomes based on these three settings.
OPTION 1:Event Settings>Financial Information
Do Not Allow Purchases on Behalf of a Company/Organization = NO
Collect Event Registrant's Company Name = NO
The event page appears as shown below:
If the box “This event purchase is being made on behalf of a company/organization” is checked, the transaction will be linked to an existing Company record or a new Company record will be created. An Individual record will also be matched or created for the individual contact listed in the First Name and Last Name fields.
If this box is not checked, the transaction will be linked only to an Individual record.
OPTION 2: Event Settings>Financial Information
Do Not Allow Purchases on Behalf of a Company/Organization = NO
Collect Event Registrant's Company Name = YES
If the box is left unchecked, an Individual record will be matched or created and the transaction will be linked to the individual. A Company record will also be matched or created and linked with an employer-employee relationship to the individual.
If the box is checked, the transaction will be linked to an existing Company record or a new Company record will be created. An Individual record will also be matched or created for the individual contact listed in the First Name and Last Name fields.
OPTION 3: Event Settings>Financial Information
Do Not Allow Purchases on Behalf of a Company/Organization = YES
Collect Event Registrant's Company Name = NO
An Individual record will be created or matched and the transaction will be attached that record. There will be no Company record created.
OPTION 4: Event Settings>Financial Information
Do Not Allow Purchases on Behalf of a Company/Organization = YES
Collect Event Registrant's Company Name = YES
An Individual record will be created or matched and the transaction will be attached to that record. If the registrant completes the information, a Company record will also be matched or created and linked with an employer-employee relationship to the individual. The Company field is not required and even if it is completed, the transaction will remain linked to the individual.
